In 2009, after building a reputation for great products as Ninetwelve Graphics, the all-new Hau Ink was born! So, what's in a name??? "Hau" is an ancient Hawaiian term that loosely translates as "the energy or spirit of goods." The Hawaiians believe that hand-made goods (those not produced in factories by the hundreds with mechanized machines) exhibit hau. It is believed that since these items are made lovingly and carefully by warm hands, the goods inherit part of the energy and spirit of the person who produced them. When the product transfers hands, this person inherits some of this positive energy, too. We found this concept very fitting to our business ethics and the products we provide. We care about what we do and the effect it has on people, the community, and the environment. We want to see our good energy and good fortune radiate into others.
